LIAM EXTENDS TOWN STAY
Liam Trotter has signed a new one year contract at Portman Road.
The 20-year-old midfielder becomes the fourth player out of contract at Town this summer to pledge his future to Blues, following Alex Bruce, who has signed a two year deal and Shane Supple and Ed Upson, who have both agreed one year contracts.
Liam, who has progressed through the Club's Academy, made five appearances for Blues last season before going on loan to first Grimsby and then Scunthorpe.
He finished the campaign at Wembley where he helped The Iron to League One Play-Off Final success over Millwall to book an immediate return to the Championship after relegation in 2007/08.
Scunthorpe were reported to be interested in signing Liam in a permanent deal but after speaking with Town boss Roy Keane, the Ipswich born player extended his stay with Blues.
"I spoke to the manager and he said he wanted me to stay here which was obviously a big boost for me," Liam told the Club website.
"I'll admit I was a bit surprised. At the end of last season I thought I would be moving on from Ipswich. I enjoyed my time at Scunthorpe and their manager wanted me to go there.
"But with a new manager here, it's a fresh start. The manager has said I'll get the chance to show what I can do and that's probably the major factor in me staying. I've not really progressed at Ipswich over the last year or two but this is a new opportunity for me."
